Park Here and Play @ Victoria Gardens (May 2017)

This summer Leeds City Council, Leeds Art Gallery and DLA Design will re-imagine the public realm outside Leeds Art Gallery to break down barriers and inspire residents, workers and visitors to creatively engage with Leeds city centre and to use this opportunity as a test bed for ideas about how to create playful public spaces. The temporary intervention will be animated through a creative programme of workshops, events and performances as well as being a space to sit and relax.

The month long temporary transformation will start the countdown to the Leeds Art Gallery re-opening in October 2017 incorporating; an artistic programme of public activities turning the gallery inside out; a creative community programme enabling key partners to animate the space; and in parallel a learning programme that will generate debate about the use of public spaces in the city in the context of the Leeds 2023 European Capital of Culture bid.

Coming soon: we will be announcing the winning design team and sharing initial design ideas, confirming our funders & sponsors as well as releasing details of the artistic programme!
